Mohbad’s death resurfaces in public discourse as VDM leaks a controversial call involving Zlatan and Sam Larry, sparking fresh demands for justice.
Popular activist Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has once again stirred public emotions over the mysterious death of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly called Mohbad. This follows his release of a purported phone call recording between music promoter Sam Larry and rapper Zlatan Ibile. The viral audio captures Zlatan explaining his decision to remain silent on the issue, triggering public calls for accountability.
In the recording, Zlatan can be heard conversing with Sam Larry in Yoruba, making it clear he wants no involvement in the controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death in 2023, stating it “doesn’t concern him.” He claims the media twisted narratives, pointing to an edited video clip from a music video shoot that wrongly implicated Sam Larry in bullying accusations. “The media is toxic; they cropped the video to push an agenda,” Zlatan asserts, adding that both family pressures and fears of online attacks influenced his decision to stay quiet.

After releasing the audio on social media, VDM issued a stern 48-hour ultimatum to Zlatan, urging him to reveal the truth about Mohbad’s final moments. In a passionate post, the activist accused the public of showing selective outrage: “You say you want justice for Mohbad, yet you’re upset I’m reopening the case? If justice is truly the goal, Zlatan must come forward.” He vowed to ensure the case isn’t buried, stressing that Imole’s spirit hasn’t rested.

VDM wrote, “Over to @zlatan_ibile, and to Nigerians: you claim to seek justice for Imole and still get upset I’m bringing this case back for more investigation? If you genuinely want justice, then let Zlatan explain why he kept quiet on this matter. Nigerians were divided about this case, and that’s why the truly responsible parties are still walking free. I won’t let this be forgotten justice for imole must continue until the real culprits, not just social media scapegoats, are exposed.”
