Exciting Features, Design Changes, and Launch Plans for the iPhone 17 Pro in 2025
As expected, Apple will release two Pro models this year — the iPhone 17 Pro and its larger counterpart, the Pro Max. The company previously increased screen sizes, which will remain unchanged. The Pro will feature a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max will offer a 6.9-inch screen. Although the overall size stays the same, notable rear design updates are rumored.
Color
A new Sky Blue option, previously seen on the M4 MacBook Air, may be introduced for the Pro models. The shade appears silver-like in certain lighting and is paler than the iPhone 13 Pro’s Sierra Blue.
MagSafe
The Apple logo might be repositioned lower on the back due to a redesigned camera layout. This adjustment may also alter the internal MagSafe magnet arrangement.
Display
All models could get 120Hz ProMotion displays in 2025, ending its Pro-exclusive status. However, some sources claim standard models won’t support adaptive refresh rates down to 1Hz. The Pro versions were expected to gain a scratch-resistant, anti-reflective coating, but technical challenges reportedly delayed the rollout.
Rumors about the Dynamic Island’s size conflict — with some suggesting a narrower design using metalens Face ID, while others expect no change.
A-Series Chip
The Pro lineup will be powered by the new A19 Pro chip, built using an advanced 3-nanometer process for modest efficiency and speed gains.
RAM
Both Pro and Air models will be upgraded to 12GB RAM, surpassing the previous 8GB found in the 16 Pro.
Thermal Performance
A vapor chamber cooling system might improve heat management in the Pro model. A leaked copper thermal plate hints at this upgrade, which would help stabilize high-performance tasks.
Camera
The front camera for all models is set to improve to 24MP, doubling the previous resolution. The Telephoto lens may also jump to 48MP, completing the trio of high-resolution sensors. Optical zoom could shift to 3.5x (85mm equivalent), favoring portrait photography while still allowing simulated 5x zoom.
Potential camera enhancements include 8K video recording, dual video capture, and a mechanical aperture for the Wide lens — offering better control over depth of field.

Battery and Charging
The Pro Max version might house a 5,000mAh battery, Apple’s largest yet. Improvements to the battery removal process and possible 7.5W reverse wireless charging are being tested. Support for the Qi 2.2 standard could enable faster wireless charging, though actual iPhone charging rates remain unconfirmed.

Wired charging will stay at 35W.
Connectivity
While standard models will get Apple’s C1 5G modem, Pro versions will stick with Qualcomm, supporting mmWave and 6GHz 5G. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 will be standard across the entire series.
Ultra Branding?
Speculation suggests the largest iPhone might adopt the “Ultra” title, though this claim has surfaced in previous cycles without materializing.
Pricing
A price increase is anticipated due to higher component costs, offset by new features and design changes.
Launch Date
Appleis scheduled to announce the new series, including the iPhone 17 Pro, in September 2025.
