Crypto Fraud: Two Men Jailed for £1.5m Scam

Court Delivers Prison Terms in Major Crypto Fraud Case

A UK court has handed down prison sentences totaling 12 years to two individuals involved in a £1.5 million crypto fraud.

Between 2017 and 2019, Raymondip Bedi and Patrick Mavanga made unsolicited calls to unsuspecting victims, steering them toward a seemingly legitimate website. There, investors were promised substantial returns through fraudulent cryptocurrency investments. At least 65 people were deceived, collectively losing £1,541,799.

The pair, alongside two accomplices, were prosecuted by the Financial Conduct Authority in 2023 and subsequently admitted their roles in the scam. Bedi received a sentence of 5 years and 4 months, while Mavanga was ordered to serve 6 years and 6 months behind bars.
