Commissioner Bethel estimated around 40 individuals were present during the shooting, which may have involved an exchange of gunfire. Investigators recovered approximately 140 shell casings and suspect a firearm equipped with a switch converting it to automatic was used.

One suspect was detained with a firearm, though their involvement remains undetermined.

This deadly incident unfolded amid a violent Fourth of July weekend in Philadelphia, marked by six homicides and several  Philadelphia shooting including eight people injured at a South Philadelphia nightclub and four others shot on Vine Street in West Philadelphia.
