A man in Lagos has been hailed a hero after he rescued a baby from a building that was engulfed in flames.
The incident, which was captured on video, shows the man clinging to the child while hanging from a second-floor balcony as smoke and fire spread through the building.
Eyewitnesses said the man was trapped upstairs and had no way to escape through the staircase. In a desperate attempt to save the baby, he held the child tightly and made his way outside the balcony.
Onlookers rushed to help, and a ladder was quickly placed against the building. The man managed to climb down with the baby still in his arms, to the relief of the anxious crowd.
Although the fire destroyed property, no lives were lost. Many Nigerians have taken to social media to praise the man’s bravery, calling him a true example of courage and selflessness.
