The disturbing incident took place on March 17, inside the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, where Tingay was found to have entered a restricted area meant only for authorized personnel. Police say the suspect broke into the hospital mortuary and carried out a sexual act on a deceased person.
Following investigations, Tingay, who is of no fixed abode, was arrested and later charged with trespassing with intent to commit sexual offences and sexual penetration of a corpse.
Appearing before Hull Crown Court on Monday, Tingay admitted both charges. The judge described the offence as “deeply disturbing and serious,” noting that such behaviour showed “complete disregard for human dignity.”

The court also heard that the mortuary incident caused distress among hospital staff and the local community, prompting tighter security measures within the facility.
The Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, which manages the hospital, said it was “appalled” by the incident and has been cooperating fully with law enforcement to ensure such a breach never happens again.
