According to school insiders, the CCTV video showed Blessing Okafor, a senior secondary student, walking into the school toilet with Mr. Emmanuel Johnson, one of the English teachers. Minutes later, the teacher was seen leaving alone, while Blessing staggered out and collapsed just a few steps away.
The disturbing clip has since gone viral among some parents and staff members, sparking outrage and disbelief.
Eyewitnesses said students screamed in shock when Blessing fainted near the classroom block. Teachers rushed to the scene and carried her to the school clinic, before she was later taken to a private hospital in the area.
“She looked very weak. Nobody understood what was happening until the CCTV footage came out. That was when everything became clear,” one student told reporters.
The school principal, Mrs. Tonia Adeyemi, confirmed that Blessing collapsed but refused to make detailed comments about the CCTV claims. “We have seen the CCTV footage and can confirm a teacher was with her before the incident. We will not cover up anything. The safety of our students remains our priority,” the principal said.
Angry parents gathered at the school gate, calling for the immediate arrest of the teacher. Some even threatened to withdraw their children if the matter was not handled properly.
One furious parent said:
“This is a disgrace. Imagine a teacher destroying the future of a student. We want the police to handle this case, not just the school.”
Cases of teachers preying on students are not new in Nigeria. In 2018, a scandal at Obafemi Awolowo University exposed a lecturer who demanded sex from a student for grades, a case that went nationwide.
Blessing is currently receiving treatment at the hospital, while Mr. Johnson has reportedly been suspended pending investigation. Police authorities have also been alerted to take over the case.
