Ondo Town, Ondo State – The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 14-year-old housemaid, Mary Akinnifesi, for allegedly attempting to kill her employer, Alhaji Nasiru Akinlosotu, by putting rat poison in his food.
The incident occurred on Adetomowo Street, Ondo Town, last Friday. According to the victim, his wife had instructed the teenager to prepare beans for the family’s dinner. However, after tasting the meal, Akinlosotu said he noticed an unusual taste and offensive odour.
“I immediately stopped eating and vomited what I had swallowed,” the 63-year-old narrated. “When neighbours questioned her, the girl confessed that she had laced only my portion with rat poison. She said she did it because I usually scold and beat her whenever she misbehaves.
