The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has passed away, marking the end of a significant chapter in the history of Ibadan. The revered monarch died on Monday, though official details surrounding his demise have yet to be released by the palace.
Oba Olakulehin recently marked his 90th birthday over the weekend, a celebration that drew notable figures from across Oyo State and beyond. He ascended the throne as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland on July 12, 2024, bringing with him a wealth of experience from both military and political backgrounds.

Born on July 5, 1935, in Okugbaja, Akanran, within the present-day Ona-Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State, the late monarch was a distinguished soldier and a founding member of the Social Democratic Party in Oyo State during Nigeria’s Third Republic.
