Rivers State Oil Executive, Dr. Adegbulugbe, Celebrated at Prestigious Energy Gathering in Abuja
At the recently held Nigeria Oil and Gas Energy Week Conference and Exhibition in Abuja, Dr. Kayode Adegbulugbe, Chief Operating Officer of Green Energy International Limited (GEIL), was presented with the Rising Star of the Year Award. GEIL is responsible for managing Otakikpo Field PML11, located in Rivers State.
The annual industry event, themed Accelerating Global Energy Progress Through Investment, Partnerships & Innovation, marked its 24th edition this year. It officially opened on June 29 at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, bringing together international energy leaders, policymakers, investors, innovators, and industry experts. The gathering served as a platform for stakeholders to deliberate on key challenges in the sector while exploring innovative strategies and investment opportunities.

While receiving his award, Dr. Adegbulugbe expressed his appreciation to the event organizers and the award committee for the distinction. He remarked that it was a profound honor to be acknowledged among accomplished professionals and leaders within the energy industry.
“This recognition is not solely a personal achievement but represents the combined dedication, support, and collaboration of remarkable teams and individuals I have had the fortune to work alongside,” he noted. Dr. Adegbulugbe also extended gratitude to his mentors, associates, and colleagues, whose pursuit of innovation and professional excellence, he said, has continuously motivated him.
Other honors distributed during the conference included the Energy Excellence Award, Equality in Energy Award, Woman in Leadership Award, Operational Excellence Award, Sustainability in Energy Award, and Indigenous Company of the Year Award. Green Energy International Limited was also nominated in one of these distinguished categories.

In the previous edition of the event, GEIL earned recognition as Best Indigenous Oil and Gas Company of the Year and received the award for Best Exhibition Stand Design at the NOG Energy Week.
Recently, the company completed the construction of a new onshore terminal, becoming the first indigenous operator in Nigeria to accomplish this in 50 years. The terminal saw its first crude oil export on June 8, 2025, marking a significant milestone for both the company and the oil and gas industry in Rivers State.
