Rotary E-Club Empowers Ibadan Students

Rotary E-Club Launches Youth Empowerment Programme in Ibadan

The Rotary E-Club of One Nigeria has successfully empowered students at Methodist Secondary Grammar School, Elekuro, Ibadan, with valuable vocational and digital skills.

The initiative, titled ‘Rotary Youth Skills Training Empowerment Scheme’, was organized in partnership with the Methodist Secondary Grammar School Old Students Association. Through this programme, participating students received training in graphic design, eco-smart agriculture using permaculture principles, photography, and chess.

Speaking at the event, the President of the Rotary E-Club, Ganiyat Tijani, highlighted that the training aimed to expose the students to qualitative learning opportunities beyond traditional academics. According to her, the programme was designed to enhance the students’ creative thinking, mental well-being, and equip them with practical skills to shape a better future.

She further explained that the school was deliberately selected for this initiative because many students in the community come from underprivileged backgrounds and have limited access to such opportunities.

Also addressing the students, Yemi Olawale, a former Assistant Governor of the club, described the project as both an empowerment and sensitisation exercise. He emphasized the importance of preparing young people to navigate real-life challenges and create sustainable livelihoods.

In her closing remarks, the school’s Principal, Idowu Fadare, expressed gratitude to the Rotary E-Club for the thoughtful initiative. She noted that the empowerment programme would not only benefit the students now but also position them to become future entrepreneurs and innovators.
