According to reports, the patient had passed away during treatment, but instead of following the proper medical and ethical procedures, hospital staff were seen on surveillance footage taking out organs without the consent or knowledge of the patient’s family. The disturbing act has sparked outrage among locals, with many demanding strict action against the hospital management.
Police authorities have since launched an investigation into the case, and health officials have been called to examine the allegations. The state medical board is also expected to intervene to determine whether the hospital was engaged in illegal organ trade.
Illegal organ trade has been a growing concern in India for years, despite strict laws like the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOTA), which criminalizes organ trafficking and unauthorized harvesting. Unfortunately, cases still surface where vulnerable patients or their families are exploited. Video: Taxi Driver Kills Colleague During Fight in Port Harcourt
In 2022, a similar case was reported in Delhi, where a private hospital came under investigation for alleged illegal organ harvesting. In another disturbing incident, a racket in Chennai was busted in 2023, where poor laborers were lured into selling their kidneys under false promises of money and employment.
Human rights activists have also stepped in, urging the government to conduct a wider probe into other hospitals in the state to ensure similar illegal activities are not being carried out elsewhere. The video is so disturbing due to policy we can’t drop it here, so If you’re reading from Phoenix, tap ‘Read Original’ above to see the full article and the video.
