A disturbing video making rounds online has sparked serious conversations about the link between internet fraud, popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo, and ritual practices often referred to as juju.
In the viral clip, a young man who identified himself as a Yahoo boy openly advised “upcoming Pablos” (a street slang for new fraudsters) to embrace juju if they want to make it big. According to him, without rituals, online scammers would only be cashing out little amounts like $50 or $100. He bragged that immediately after he began using juju, his financial fortunes changed—claiming he was able to buy a Mercedes-Benz GLE and gold jewelry.
Over the years, internet fraud in Nigeria has evolved into what is popularly known as Yahoo Plus. Unlike regular internet scams, Yahoo Plus allegedly involves the use of rituals, charms, and sacrifices to “boost” success in scamming foreign victims.
