JUST IN: Gov Fubara Explains Purpose of His Visit to President Tinubu

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has clarified the reason behind his recent visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as a crucial step to stabilize leadership in the state and prevent a repeat of past political crises.

Governor Fubara, who was reinstated after six months of suspension under emergency rule, met with the president at the State House in Abuja on Monday evening. The closed-door session, according to him, was more of a “father-and-son” dialogue than a political consultation.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Fubara explained that his primary mission was to officially inform the president of his resumption of duties. He also sought Tinubu’s guidance on sensitive governance issues that could shape the peace and stability of Rivers State moving forward.

“You are aware that the suspension was lifted at midnight on the 17th, and I resumed office on the 19th. My visit here was to personally tell Mr. President that I am back in office and fully resuming my responsibilities as Governor of Rivers State,” Fubara said. He further noted that he took the opportunity to express gratitude to President Tinubu for his role in ensuring calm during the political turbulence in the state. “It was a father-and-son discussion — I came to say thank you and also to receive direction on certain matters, so we don’t experience another round of crisis in Rivers State,” the governor added.
