Nigerian banks reactivate international payments on naira cards, easing restrictions for customers
Following almost three years of halted services, Nigerian banks have officially resumed international transactions on naira-denominated debit cards. This move represents a major improvement for account holders needing to complete payments abroad.
United Bank for Africa (UBA) and Wema Bank separately notified their customers about the reinstatement of international payment functions on their naira cards.
In its announcement, UBA confirmed that this reactivation for its premium naira cards reflects its ongoing promise to enhance banking convenience.
“We are delighted to let you know that all UBA Premium Naira Cards , Gold, Platinum, and World , now support international payments,” the bank announced.
“This upgrade allows you to easily perform global transactions including online purchases, POS payments, and ATM withdrawals. If you haven’t used your card in a while, this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the convenience and status of being a UBA premium cardholder.”
