Lagos Government Clears Air on Demolition Linked to Peter Obi
The Lagos State Government has responded powerfully to the public backlash following claims that a property belonging to Obi’s brother was unjustly demolished.
Lagos Disowns Demolition Claims Tied to Peter Obi
According to a statement issued on Thursday by Gbenga Omotoso, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, no agency under the state government, including the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), was involved in the alleged act.
Omotoso emphasized that the administration will not be derailed by unfounded accusations.

To ensure transparency, the government has tasked the Permanent Secretary of the Office of Urban Development to initiate a thorough investigation through LASBCA. The agency is expected to provide clarity regarding the reported demolition.

“We call on the public to disregard the misleading statements made by Obi. The Lagos State Government remains committed to upholding justice and maintaining peace,” the statement read.

Earlier, Obi, former governor of Anambra State, had shared a post on X alleging that his brother’s property was torn down without prior notice or justification. He described the act as evidence that the country is heading toward lawlessness.
